Man Decides to Propose to His Girlfriend While Arrested and in Cuffs

Proposal

He planned to pop the question to his girlfriend when Muskogee officers showed up to arrest him on six felony warrants.

A man in Oklahoma was being arrested when he chose to ask his girlfriend to marry him, and she said yes.

Brandon Thompson wasn't about to let a "minor" police matter get in the way of proposing to his girlfriend on July 4th, during a celebration of his 35th birthday.

Lynch and his partner, Officer Lincoln Anderson, detained Thompson in the front yard and placed him in handcuffs.

Court documents show Thompson's charges included possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, failure to appear in court, and possession of a controlled unsafe substance.

Anderson hopes that this act of kindness shows that police are not just there to take people to jail, but also they're human beings who feel much of the same feelings, too. Officers say Thompson asked if he could propose before they took him away.

Thompson said he has been "doing a lot to turn his life around".

"I didn't want to part ways with her not showing exactly how I feel for her", Mr Thompson told CNN. That is when he got down on one knee. Then, the officers switched Thompson's handcuffs from behind his back to his front so that he could place an engagement ring on Keith's finger.

His new fiancee pulled together their savings to bail him out of jail. "I know that he loves me and I love him and we can get through anything together", Keith said. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 17.

The officers present on the scene were surprised with Mr Thompson's request but allowed him to go ahead with the proposal.
