Nintendo reveals classic SNES console

Early this morning, Nintendo announced the SNES Mini Classic, a retro-styled miniature console with 21 game preloaded. It's launching on September 29 with an MSRP of $79.99.

While it remains to be seen if Nintendo underestimated demand once again, it does seem that the company has paid attention to the most frequent criticism levelled at the NES Classic hardware itself: the cables on the SNES Classic controllers will be 1.5 metres long, 60 centimetres longer than the tiny cords from previous year.

The Nintendo SNES Classic will retail for $119.99 in Australia. The short controller length of the original NES Classic was a popular complaint amongst customers, which led to some using wireless options instead. Here's everything you need to know - including links to pre-order right now! However, in a statement to Kotaku, Nintendo assured that there would be more supply this time around.

It's not hard to see why: the retro console has a fantastic list of classic SNES games built in, and everyone's still feeling burned by the whole NES Classic situation.

Nintendo SNES Classic: What Games Are Included? Yes, Nintendo intends to release the long-lost Star Fox 2 as part of the SNES Classic Edition lineup. Although Nintendo has stated that there will be more SNES Classic units available, it is unclear just how many will be in circulation. It's the same console, just with some different visual flair.

Nintendo SNES Classic: What Are My Chances Of Actually Getting One? By the time demand finally began to settle, Nintendo abruptly announced it was discontinued, to the chagrin of many.

Even if you are playing Kirby's Dream Course, you'll at least be able to control the game from a reasonable distance this time around.

Much like how they've said that the discontinuation of the NES Classic Edition was due to their lack of "unlimited resources", Nintendo is once again singing the same tune.

In other words, you better act quick if you want this thing!
