'Most expensive' Samsung Galaxy Note 8 launch expected in September

Samsung Electronic's Galaxy S8 and S8 are displayed at its store in Seoul South Korea

A couple months more and we'll have the much-awaited Galaxy Note 8 in our hands, the first functional Note device from Samsung in over a year.

After the successful launch of Galaxy S8 and S8 plus, Samsung is all set to reveal the Galaxy Note 8, its flagship successor to the controversial Note 7. Therefore, a.1-inch upgrade is clearly observed in the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 smartphone. However, bringing the refurbished model back can rekindle people's memory of the exploding Note 7. So without a Galaxy Note available, what do you use instead? Additionally, the new Galaxy S8's display had HDR (high dynamic range) functionality for better contrast ratios - a feature that could appear on the Note 8 as well. Samsung is reportedly geared up to continue its Note series even after Galaxy Note 7's debacle in 2016. Some rumours claim that the Samsung's next Android-powered phablet will sport dual rear camera setup, while other leaks suggest that the Galaxy Note 8 will feature a dual edge QHD curved display.

Rose Pink is likely to remain a Galaxy S8 Plus exclusive, similar to what Samsung did with Galaxy S7 vs. Galaxy S7 Edge. The fingerprint sensor too will be positioned on the same plane as the camera sensors, although the gap will be a little wider than on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

As we all know smartphones can be a pricey accessory to own these days.

Samsung has the habit of churning out a rugged variant of its flagship offering under the "Active" moniker for quite some time now, and hence, it isn't a surprise to see the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active make an appearance on GFXBench.

Performance wise, the Note 8 seems to be a beast. "Once again, Samsung has made the controversial choice of placing the fingerprint sensor on the same plane as the camera lenses - to the right of the flash and heart rate sensor - but at least this iteration sees them separated by a greater distance." Ugh. The two 12-megapixel sensors said to come with independent optical image stabilisation (OIS) for each lens.

Other features are rumored to include a 3,500 mAh battery and support for Quick Charge 2.0. The report indicates that the launch event will transpire in New York City. The S-Pen is expected to come with new features like language translation for full sentence and currency conversion.
