Woman hangs by teeth over Niagara Falls

Wallenda discusses hanging by her teeth over Niagara Falls

The previous record of 250 feet was held by her husband, which he set six years ago, dangling over a Missouri theme park.

"There's a fine line between daredevil and insane", jokes Mark Armstrong from Maryland who just happened to come to the falls and stumble upon the daunting challenge Erendira made a decision to take on.

Erendira Wallenda, the wife of the famous daredevil, showed him how it's done on Thursday, besting his world record at the "iron-jaw hang" stunt.

She then hung upside down with her feet on the hoop before repeating the mouth hang again.

Erendira Wallenda said she was caught off guard by the windy conditions above the cataracts, something her husband had to deal with during his 2012 stunt.

Her husband, Nik, said Erendira's mental trip during the performance brought something immediately to mind.

Trapeze-artist Erendira Wallenda smiles as she and her daredevil husband Nik Wallenda describe Erendira's plans to perform an acrobatic routine while suspended from a helicopter above Niagara Falls at at news conference Wednesday.

The wife of high-wire artist Nik Wallenda hung from a hoop dangling out of the helicopter as it hovered about 100 metres above the falls on the Canada-U.S. border. "I just feel blessed". The Wallendas are scheduled to go on a 2 ½-month tour with the Big Apple Circus in October, Nik Wallenda said.

Nik Wallenda helped revive his family's 200-year-old legacy by performing death-defying stunts on live television, such as walking on a tightrope across Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon.

Others, including three girls visiting from Texas, came to Terrapin Point specifically to see the stunt. The stunt involves four acrobats on the tightrope holding two more acrobats above them. Husband Nik leaned out the helicopter watching Erendira while also communicating with the pilot via headphones.
