Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper (34) charges San Francisco Giants' Hunter Strickland after being hit with a pitch in the eighth inning of a baseball game Monday, May 29, 2017, in San Francisco.
Harper charged the mound and threw his helmet, which appeared to slip out of his hand and come nowhere close to Strickland, but they both landed punches before being engulfed by teammates in a melee at the center of the infield.
A ruling on Strickland's appeal of his six-game suspension has not yet been made.
Harper's suspension, delayed while he appealed, will take effect Wednesday night, when the teams meet at 10:15 p.m. ET in San Francisco.
Monday's fight began when San Francisco Giants reliever Hunter Strickland drilled Harper with a 98 miles per hour fastball, prompting the Nats slugger to charge the mound.
The punishment stemmed from a bench-clearing brawl on Monday after Harper was hit by a 98 miles per hour fastball from Giants reliever Hunter Strickland.

Each player also was fined an undisclosed amount.
Strickland accepted responsibility for hitting Harper but expressed no regret.
"You can't really worry about what Major League Baseball is going to do because you don't really know", Harper said Tuesday. He went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts, booed vociferously by the crowd at AT&T Park every time he stepped to the plate. It's just insane that it even happened yesterday. This one had been dormant since the 2014 postseason, when Harper hit two homers off Strickland and the two jawed as he rounded the bases. After three years, to do that, I don't know what was going through his mind or how upset he was the past couple of years. "If he did have a problem, he could have talked to me about it".
Baker didn't think Harper's punishment was fair, saying, "Probably only Martin Luther King or Gandhi would have turned the other cheek and not done something reactionary".
Morse got the worst of the collision and was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list Tuesday. "We as a whole group and team, we stick together".
