Miley Cyrus Wearing White in "Malibu" Music Video for Liam Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus performs onstage during Hilarity for Charity's annual variety show: James Franco's Bar Mitzvah, benefiting the Alzheimer's Association, presented by amusing or Die, go90 With Sponsor SVEDKA Vodka at the Hollywood Palladium on October 17, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

As we previously reported, the former Disney darling dropped her first bit of music in nearly two years as she released a breezy love song, titled Malibu. She has been included on the Time 100 list of most influential people in 2008 and 2014.

It's not the first time since she entered the realm of ex-Disney girls gone wild that Cyrus has reminded us that she has a softer side. "Malibu" is a departure from the singer's recent oeuvre in just about every way imaginable. In fact, the whole song, which is about someone who gets you to appreciate the outdoors, comforts you when you're afraid, and brings you all-around joy, suddenly becomes a lot more fun if you imagine Cyrus is actually singing to her dog instead of her hunky Australian fiancé.

Miley is seen frolicking on the beach, holding balloons, dancing in loose white outfits, and it is clear we all are excited for the direction that Miley is heading in with her music.

These days, Cyrus is cuddling up to boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, whom she recently revealed to Billboard is the inspiration behind "Malibu". "They're going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam". The mid-tempo ballad features the lines: "Is it supposed to be this hot all summer long?"

"Now I'm as free as birds catching the wind", she sings at one point.
