Sales of Super Mario Run "Did Not Meet Our Expectations", says Nintendo

Sales of Super Mario Run

Despite releasing Fire Emblem Heroes with a freemium model, a senior company official has confirmed that that game "is an outlier" and that they "honestly prefer the "Super Mario Run" model".

Out of 78m who downloaded, just 4m people went on to pay and unlock the full game, previous figures suggested.

The game was seen listed on Google Play and it was available for pre-registering. The game records $14 million in its first three days setting an App Store download record.

Super Mario Run launched this week for Android - so its sales will undoubtedly rise. $9.99 unlocks everything. Still, it's an auto-runner, and that price is a tall order for the genre. However, veteran members of the support forum for the game have disclosed a couple of quick-fixes to address the problem. "Super Mario Run" is only playable if users are connected to the internet via WiFi or through their cellular network.

Nintendo released the game Super Mario Run for Android:- The game Maker Company - Nintendo has finally launched Super Mario Run for Android users after prolonged pre-registration.

Yet [Super Mario Run] was less of a moneymaker for Nintendo than might have been expected, due to the pay-once-and-play model. Out of tens of millions of players, that's still a good number-especially considering that the game is a more limited offering than a console title and likely much cheaper to develop-but it didn't meet the company's expectations.

In terms of payment models, the distinction between Fire Emblem Heroes and Super Mario Run is clear, and it appears that Nintendo intends to keep focused on higher-priced gaming apps instead of the more popular freemium model.
