Indiana jobless rate edges up to 4.1 percent in February

Indiana's labor-force participation rate-the percentage of the state's population that is either employed or actively seeking work-rose two-tenths of a point, to 64.4 percent, in February.

The state was a full point the national unemployment rate last month, which decreased to 4.7-percent.

In the Lincoln metropolitan area, the rate was 2.8 percent in February, down from 3.1 percent in January.

The Chicago metro area's unemployment rate fell to 5.2 percent, from 5.6 percent in January, the lowest it has been since before the recession.

The current rate of 5.3 percent is the same as it was in February of past year.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for California was 5 percent in February, down from 5.2 percent in January and below the 5.6 percent rate in February 2016.

The sectors that saw job gains included construction, leisure and hospitality, and educational and health services. The only drops were in the Other category, which lost 400 jobs, and in the government which shrunk by 1,300 spots.

Georgia's labor force market hit the five million mark for the first time in state history.

"Having the fourth lowest unemployment rate in the state means that 155 counties have higher unemployment rates than Cherokee County". Employment went up more than 10,000, to more than 2.2. million people.

"The Connecticut economy is now only adding roughly 1,000 jobs per month on average, suggesting full job recovery may not materialize until sometime in 2019", Klepper-Smith said.

The unemployment rate in OH rose in every county between December of a year ago and January of 2017. Meanwhile, the state's unemployment rate grew slightly to 6.2 percent from 6 percent year over year.

In a year-over-year comparison (February 2016 to February 2017), nonfarm payroll employment in California increased by 315,800 jobs (a 1.9 percent increase).
