Shailene Woodley arrested for criminal trespassing

Ansel Elgort as spoken out in defense of Shailene Woodley following her arrest.

Actress Shailene Woodley, star of the movie "Divergent", was arrested Monday, Oct. 10, for trespassing while protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline project in Morton County, Forum News Service has confirmed.

About 100 protesters were on a construction site for the controversial pipeline project before cops moved in and put handcuffs on Shailene. After being told to leave the protest site, Woodley complied but on returning to her camper van found it surrounded with police with assault rifles.

Despite the court's ruling, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Monday it won't authorize construction of the $3.8 billion pipeline on Corps land bordering or under Lake Oahe until it finishes reviewing issues raised by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. She wanted fans and those believed in the cause to see the next step being taken now that the US Court of Appeals chose to deny the injunction that would halt construction.

"They are not letting me go", she told her 40,000 viewers during the live feed.

"It seems they are coming to the same conclusion as the federal government in acknowledging there is something wrong with the approvals for the pipeline", he said.

Woodley was arrested at 12:05 p.m. on suspicion of criminal trespass. Shailene presses further asking why she is the only one being arrested when there are hundreds of other people standing in the exact same area. In the video, a police officer can be seen telling her that she is being placed under arrest "for criminal trespass".

Ezra Miller said in the video: "As a gang of earth defenders, we want to send a big shout out to the Oceti Sakowin and those who stand with them in opposing the Dakota Access Pipeline".

The video spread quickly on social media and by early evening had been viewed more than 2.4 million times.

"We are grateful to the State of Wisconsin for providing additional law enforcement officers to support Morton County's response to the Dakota Access Pipeline protests", N.D. Gov. Jack Dalrymple, who approved the request, said in the statement. I don't know what's going on, as soon as they came I left. #UpToUs from @frankwaln - #NoDAPL: "This is what our Protectors face as they work to defend the water and land".
