Korea could have up to 100 deliverable nuclear weapons in four years

A spokesman for South Korea's defence ministry said on 10 October that pre-emptive strikes against North Korea's missile and nuclear facilities remain an option if there are indications that Pyongyang is preparing to launch a nuclear attack, Yonhap news agency reported. It was preceded by another joint naval exercise by the two allies in the Sea of Japan.

In this July 27, 2013, photo, North Korean soldiers turn and look towards leader Kim Jong Un as they carry packs marked with the nuclear symbol as they parade during a ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the Korean War armistice in Pyongyang, North Korea. "We want this resolution to be practically impactful on the ground".

The United States will also use its military as a deterrent to the North's threat, Ambassador Samantha Power told a news conference in Seoul, after visiting the heavily armed Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) border between the rival Koreas.

Regarding cooperation from China and Russian Federation, two of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, the UN envoy said the USA will exert all possible political influence, to ensure support from all council members. Beijing, a traditional ally of the North, signed onto the previous resolution but since has seen its own relationship with Washington become increasingly strained.

The absence of military activity on Monday came as the allied force of the United States and South Korea was in the midst of their joint naval exercises underway in three bodies of sea waters surrounding South Korea.

There has been some concern that South Korea may fear angering major trading partner China.

Joel Wit, of 38 north said, "what we're seeing is activity near here".

The U.S. also is working to draw attention to North Korea's human rights abuses.

But, there are also experts who believe the day will pass without a provocation. She posted a photo of him watching the debate between US presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
